Our holy father and confessor, Martin, Pope of Rome, combated the Monothelites. Several attempts were made against his life and he was deported to the isle of Naxos in the Aegean. After a year of untol privation he was taken to Constantinople, suffered extreme ignominy and died in exile in the Crimea A.D. 655.
SS. Aristarchus, Pudus and Trophimus, Apostles, endured death A.D. 68 in the days of Nero, Emperor.
SS. Agapia, Irene and Chionia, Martyrs, three sisters burned at the stake at Thessolonica, under Diocletian. Emperor A.D. 304 for possessing and concealing Sacred Books of Christians.
Our venerable father, Simeon of Persia, was martyred in Mesoptamia by beheading under the Persian monarch Sapor II, in the reign of Constantinus and Constans. Emperors. Venerable Acacius, Bishop of Metlite, flourished A.D. 381 in the reign of the Emperor Theodosius the Great. St. Agapitus, Pope of Rome, died at Constantinople A.D. 536, in the reign of Justinian, Emperor. His body was taken to Rome and interred in the Basilica of St. Peter.
Our Venerable father, Theodore, surnamed "Trichinas" for the rough habit of sackcloth which he wore, was a holy hermit near Constantinople who died not later then A.D. 320.

Our venerable father, Alexis, man of God, was the only son of a Roman Senator; died A.D. 404. Pope Innocent I and the Emperor Honorius are said to have been present at his burial.
Our holy father, Cyril, Archbishop of Jerusalem. His "Catechetical Instruction." Given to the Catechumens, on the elements of the Faith are among the most recious documents of Catholic teaching. He was named by Pope Leo XII among the Doctors of the Church. He died A.D. 386 in the reign of Theodosius, Emperor.
Saints Chrysantus and Darias, Martyrs, came from the East to Rome, where they suffered death by being buried alive A.D. 283.
St. Basil, Priest-martyr, Presbyter of the Church in Ancyra, was thrown to the wild beasts in the arena at Caesarea in Palestine A.D. 363 under Julian the Apostate.
St. Nicon, Venerable-martyr, and two hundred disciples fled the persecution in Palestine to a refuge in Sicily where they were put to death A.D. 250 under Decius, Emperor.

First and Second Finding of the Venerable Head of St. John, the Precursor. The First Finding was being two monks in the home of Herod, King. They brought the Head to the city Emmesia. The Second Finding was much later, during the reign of Emperor Marchianus A.D. 431
St. Tharasius, Archbishop of Constantinople, opposed the Iconoclasts, denounced the vices of the Byzantine Principles and their profligate courts. Known as the "Father of the poor." He died A.D. 806 during the reign of Micephorus, Emperor.
Our venerable father, Basil, confessor and co-faster with St. Procopous. Famous for their resistance at Constantinople to the Decree of Leo III, the Isaurian, ordering the destruction of holy pictures. They died about 740.
St. Eudoxia, Venerable-Martyr. At first she led a profligate life but was baptized by Theodotus, Bishop. Arrested, she was beheaded for her Christianity about A.D. 107 during the leadership of Diogenes, in the reign of Trajan, Emperor.

St. Simeon, the Venerable-Senex and "God-Bearer", lived to see and hold the Infant Jesus, the consolation of Israel, in his arms.
Our Venerable father, Isidore of Pelusium, founded a monastery at Pelusium and was held in great esteem as a theologian and guide of souls. Died about A.D. 450.
St. Agatha, Martyr, suffered death in prison A.D. 250 under the leadership of quintinianus, during the reign of Emperor Decius.
Our Venerable father, Bukolus, Bishop of Smyrna. He lived in the days of the St. John the Evengelist, by whom he was appointed Bishop before Polycarp, Martyr.
St. Theodore, the great Martyr, was a general in the army of the Emperor Licinius. He suffered death at Heracles in the Thrace A.D. 318.

Translation of the Relics of our father, St. John Chrysostom, took place in A.D. 435.
Our venerable father, Ephraem, "Prophet of Syrians and an instrument of Holy Spirit," a great poet, orator, exegete and defensor of Orthodoxy. He died about A.D. 373 as a Deacon.
Translation of the Relics of St. Ignatius, the "God-Bearer," Priest-Martyr, Bishop of Antioch. He was devoured by lions at Rome. His diciples carried his relics to Antioch into his Church in the year A.D. 109, in the reign of Trajan, the persecutor.
Feast of the Three Holy Bishops, i.e., The Three Great Fathers of the church; namely, St. Basil the Great, St. Gregory, the Theologian and St. Hohn the Chrysostom.
Presentation of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Temple. This is one of the most ancient of all the feasts, for we find it established at Jerusalem in the 4th century.
